GOODNEWSLETTERNumber 426 August 1, 2012WISDOM"WISDOM is the principle thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding," Proverbs 4:5.A Proverb is a comparison; a parable. In the Book of Proverbs, the writer wants us to see the meaning of wisdom by pairing many thoughts with a woman: "SHE will preserve thee;" "SHE shall givethy head an ornament of grace," and, so on (See, Proverbs 4:8-13).The thought becomes precious when we walk with the 'wisdom' woman. She causes years to be added to our life (4:10). And, concerning this wisdom woman, Solomon instructs us to, "Take fast hold of instruction; let HER not go: keep HER; for SHE is THY LIFE," Proverbs 4:13. Solomon goes on to write, "My Son, attend to my wisdom, and bow thine ear to my understanding" (5:1). In the next verse, he gives advice about a having a strange woman in our life; which, ends in bitterness (5:4). Don't listen to strange women. When we read the New Testament, the words of Jesus are to be listened to, of course - even more than Solomon's. The LORD wants us to know that "...a greater Solomon is here" (Mt. 12:42). And, justas we were told in Proverbs, we are pay close attention to who we listen to. If fact, the words of Jesus explains that If we don't listen, as for eternity, an unclean spirit will return and to make our life a realmess (See, Mt. 12:43-45).Since, the Bible is given by God's inspiration, we know that it is profitable for Proverbs, parables and all heavenly truths. It's teachings are to be learned, followed and loved. If we are to serve the LORD in spirit and correct manner, His words must be eternally important to us. Personally, I wish more understood His teaching on the coming Kingdom.Further, as fallen sinners, we should expect that we have a lot to learn. After all, God is so much higher than man, in every way. He needs no counselor. He is far above all men. In Paul's amazement ofGod's grace and and mercy and the wisdom he was given, writes, "For of Him, and through Him, and to Him, are all things: to whom be glory for ever." Paul continues with God's wisdom in Romans 11:33."O the depth of the riches both of the WISDOM and KNOWLEDGE of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and His ways past finding out!"Salvation's wisdom begins with our faith in Jesus, the Christ. Our redemption lies in the blood of Jesus, the Son of God, alone. To know this fact and, that we are saved by His work on Calvary, is the foundation of Godly wisdom. To know Jesus and to serve Him is a wise choice; to say the least. It's amazing! We are saved!!! By His grace, "Wherein He hath abounded toward us in all wisdom and prudence; God has "Made known unto us the mystery of His will...that in the dispensation of the fullness of times, He might gather together in one all things in Christ..." Ephesians 1:7-9. Oh! The wisdom of God!!!
