The Local Church Truth Gives Answers To All The Questions
"Beloved, while I was very diligent to write you concerning our common salvation...
to write you to contend earnestly for the faith which was once and for all delivered
to the saints," Jude 3.
I was first saved in 1959 in the Alisal Missionary Baptist Church in Salinas, Calif., and then begin to learn the Word of God, It amazed me how the Local Church could answer my questions. Every tenet is supported by each other within the Word. What I mean is, the church was given the word to keep and, throughout the years, She has handled it very nicely.
The Seventh Day people, along with Mormons fail to see the church as always being on the earth once Jesus established it. The other groups have a very difficult time with the church as well. Harmonizing doctrines on Salvation, Church and Her ordinances fit only with the local Church. So, here's the scoop. Matthew 28:16-19 records Jesus explicitly saying: "...Upon this rock, I will build my church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it". When one ties this truth with the great commission that Jesus gave His church, you will see that the church has always been on the earth. "Go ye in all the world and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit...and lo, I am with you all the way, even the the end of the age."
Here's what I think is so very important about the never ending church; since, the day that Jesus established her: All Scriptures fit into the church and, it fit wonderfully. For example, when one is saved, will he forever remain saved? Absolutely. However, if the believer becomes slothful and stops his activity within the church, he will not inherit the kingdom. That's harmony of verses.
Baptism and the Supper are the two pictorial ordinances within the body. Study it out and see if your practice fits what the Word says. But, never belong to a church that has no history.
