THE ASSEMBLING OF OURSELVES TOGETHER
"NOT forsaking the assembling of yourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting
one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching," Hebrew 10:25
Everybody needs to consider attending every service held by the church. Why? It's because that's how the LORD set it up. Not only do we read what Hebrews 10:25 says, we must remember that Jesus was a Shepherd; and, all who call Him as their Savior should flock together. There's great grass for the sheep when we follow the Shepherd. Jesus also has tremendous teaching that leads His sheep into all ways of righteousness.
So, when we take a good look at how the churches in the New Testament operated, we see that, besides gathering together, each church "ordained Elders." Further, to be in Christ, we must hear God's preachers. Just as Paul sent Timotheus to bring into remembrance "...of my ways which be in Christ Jesus, as I teach in every church" (1st Corinthians 4:217). We attend to hear the same message; that of a Spiritual one. Unless we hear TRUTH often, it flees our minds. We need to always be ready to study to "...show ourselves approved unto God" (2nd Tim. 3:16).
Everyday, we must open the Word of God. When we go to the Old Testament, we see that God had the same teaching of attending regularly. Israel was to honor the LORD, always. The Nation had to be in every service. The Day of Atonement; Unleavened Bread; and, each Sabbath Day. "Six days shall work, but on the Seventh Day there shall be to you an holy day, a Sabbath of rest to the LORD; whosoever doeth work therein shall be put to death" (Exodus 35:2).
As we listen to the Pastors and the preachers, we honor the LORD. He, immediately blessing our effort in His holy Name. From our effort, the LORD issues His grace to us. It's amazing to learn of the LORD, isn't it?
