THANKSGIVING
"Rooted and built up in Him, and established in the faith, as ye have been
taught, abounding therein with THANKSGIVING," Colossians 2:7.
According to Wikipedia, congress recognized THANKSGIVING in 1941. And, it makes sense, because that's the year I was born. Each year, our families have enjoyed this day with great joy. I'm sure you have as well; even though, you may not be born in the same year as it was established; The date again: 1941.
While, most in America enjoy this day, the real THANKSGIVING is to God, the Father and His Son, Jesus. The 3rd Person of the God Head reminds us that God gave His Son to die for the sin of the world; not in 1941, but "...before the foundation of the world," 1st Peter 1: 18-21.
Peter makes salvation so clear in these verses. Everyone should know that Salvation comes from God; Who, only through LOVE, gave the Son for mankind. "Who by Him do ye believe in God, that raised Him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God" (V 21).
The Bible goes on and on about trusting Jesus. We must be in obedience, knowing that LOVE is all about in the Lord and Savior, Jesus, the Christ. Thus, in verse 22, Peter tells us that our souls have been ",,,Purified...in obeying the truth through the truth."
Landmark Missionary Baptists believe in the church; which began with Jesus. We are so thankful for brethren that have stood for the truth down through the years, as well. The church is to teach the world: 1) How the be saved; 2) How to be baptized; and, 3) How to serve. Read carefully Colossians 3:15. "And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye were called in one body, and be ye THANKFUL."
